Vegan Thanksgiving meal in Melville this weekend

Looking for a vegan Thanksgiving dinner meal? Well, you're in luck this weekend.
HealthyPlanet- a Huntington-based nonprofit organization that promotes "food choices and lifestyles that respect our bodies and our shared environment" - has been putting together such an occasion for the last 17 years, says the group president Bob DiBenedetto.
The "Healthy, Green & Turkey-Free Thanksgiving Dinner & Lecture" - featuring fourth generation cattle rancher turned vegan and environmental activist Howard Lyman, AKA "Mad Cowboy" - hits Melville on Sunday.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their family, friends, children and best "entirely plant-based dish" (check out these requirements) to share, which can also be entered to win a prize appetizer, main course and dessert categories
Reservations strongly encouraged. Here are the details:
WHEN: Sun. Nov. 21, attend any or all portions
2:00 p.m. - Pre-dinner socializing with soup and live music by First Circle
3:30 p.m. - Dinner
4:30 p.m. - Howard Lyman speaks
WHERE: Sweet Hollow Hall at West Hills County Park, located on the west side of Gwynne Road in Melville, just off Northern State Pkwy and slightly west of Rte. 110
COST: Suggested donation of $20 ($15 HealthyPlanet members) at the door or $15 in advance ($10 members). Additional $10 is requested if you're not bringing food to share.
