gas pump

With gas prices still ridiculously high compared with back in the day, some gas stations across Long Island have reverted back to an old-school pricing scheme. These gas-pump places have begun charging more for a gallon of gas if you pay by credit card rather than cash or debit card.

Shady.

Oh sure, they don't advertise it until after you've turned your car off and opened your gas tank. Then, whammo! An extra 9 cents (at least) per gallon. Now that $1 or so extra to fill your car up won't change the food you put on your table, but there's the principle.

The gas stations that charge more for credit card users are passing on their expenses for credit card purchases to the consumer. Is it the consumer's fault that technology has made life easier and they can pay at the pump without having to go inside? Should we be forced to pay more for simple technological advances.

This, folks, is weak sauce. OK, I'm done ranting. Use our Gas Buddy feature to find cheaper gas prices across the Island.

Weak Sauce is a collection of rants and raves about the inadequacies we perceive about everyday life on Long Island.
