Frizzles opens in Commack

Commack has a new outlet for freshly made fast food. Frizzles (motto: “Fresh food with lots of sizzle”) opened in late April with a menu that focuses on burgers and sandwiches.
Specialty creations can be made with either a ½-pound beef burger ($8.99) or chicken breast, grilled or fried ($7.99). They include Hickory BBQ Bacon (with bacon, bbq sauce, onion strings, grilled mushrooms, cheddar), Baja (pepperjack cheese, potato chips, chipotle-ranch dressing), Egg-Ceptional (fried egg, American and pepperjack cheese, bacon, hashbrowns). Also of note: a macaroni and cheese sandwich and a Belgian waffle sandwich containing fried chicken and maple aioli.
There are also simpler burgers, about 3 ounces, which can be customized (and doubled or tripled) plus veggie burgers, salads, specialty grilled-cheese sandwiches, five styles of hot dogs. Almost everything is under $8.
For dessert: ice cream sandwiches made with Belgian waffles, and “pie shakes” in cherry, apple or blueberry.
Spacious and smartly outfitted, Frizzles has the look of a national chain, but is, in fact, a Commack original owned by four men whom managing partner Mike Krumenacker described as a “close-knit group of lifelong buddies.”
