Brewology, the Speonk gastropub, has spawned a sibling in Port Jefferson. According to partner Roger Bencosme, the two locations share the same chef (Chris Zullo) and menu, and each offers about two dozen beers on tap.

The optics are different though. Whereas the original Brewology is situated in a strip-mall parking lot, the new Brewology is in an old Elks Lodge, in the former home of Tequila Jacks behind Starbucks on Main Street. Lots of exposed brick, dark wood and subway tiles. "It has a different feel," Bencosme said, "but when you walk in, you know you're in Brewology."

Zullo's menu is composed of exuberantly reimagined pub standards (deviled duck eggs with candied bacon, orange zest and truffle pearls; beer-battered sweetbreads over mango chutney; barbecued chicken with basmati pilaf and cheddar cornbread). Starters range from $8 to $16; entrees from $19 to $38.

Brewology offers four burgers, Angus beef ($14), turkey ($15), veggie ($14) and a signature bison patty stuffed with Cheddar and blue cheeses, topped with celery, Buffalo aioli ($18). All of them will be priced at $2.95 on July 1, when the original Brewology celebrates its one-year birthday. That special will run at both restaurants.

Brewology is at 201 Main St., Port Jefferson, 631-509-1700 and 295 County Rd. 80, Speonk, 631-801-6221, brewologypub.com.
