On Halloween weekend, it's all about dessert.

No tricks, just treats. And definitely nothing scary.

So far, 2010 has been a pretty good year for restaurant desserts in all get-ups. Here's a quartet of restaurants that serve fine finales, plus some of the big dishes that precede them.

Ruvo in Port Jefferson sends out dependably flavorful Italian dishes, from rice balls to tuna crudo, lasagna to pork chops with mascarpone-enriched polenta. Winning dessert selections include tiramisu, creamy cheesecake and a warm pear crumble.

Ruvo, 105 Wynn Lane, Port Jefferson; 631-476-3800.

Trattoria Diane in Roslyn redefined itself with an emphasis on the cooking of Rome and environs. You'll find a grand spaghetti alla carbonara and even better fried artichokes. Desserts go out of town with a professional affogato, espresso on ice cream; and bombolini, the ultimate doughnut holes.

Trattoria Diane, 21 Bryant Ave., Roslyn; 516-621-2591.

Two Steak & Sushi Den in New Hyde Park covers a lot of territory: sushi, English pea ravioli, dry-aged strip steak, black bass with Iberico ham. You can complete the meal with green-tea doughnuts, chocolate cake, cheesecake, Oreo-and-pistachio macaroon petit fours.

Two Steak & Sushi Den, 1270 Union Tpke., New Hyde Park; 516-358-2222.

Wild Honey on Main in Port Washington specializes in regional American cookery, with asides. After the chile-and-pork tostada, baked Pine Island oysters, and a jalapeno-spiked macaroni-and-cheese, end with "cake & shake," warm chocolate cake paired  with a vanilla milk shake.

Wild Honey on Main, 172 Main St., Port Washington; 516-439-5324.
