A Main Street eatery in Farmingdale will make the switch from tacos to gyros this summer.
Greek Table Fresh Mediterranean is slated to open in the space that's currently High Tide Taco Bar. The fast-casual Greek concept is expected to launch in August "or September latest," owner Jeff Rumman said Tuesday. Rumman also owns nearby Tasting Room Kitchen & Cocktails, also on Main Street.
High Tide fans, fret not: The taco spot will remain open through the summer, until the launch of the rebranded concept.
"The rationale behind it is just a shift in consumer demand and the community at large misses having the Greek option in town since the Grecian Grill closed down a couple of years ago," he said.
The Grecian Grill, previously in the space next door to High Tide on the corner of Main and Conklin streets, closed in 2023 after more than 20 years in business. It was replaced in 2024 by Caribbean restaurant The Barnyard.
Greek Table Fresh Mediterranean's menu, which Rumman said has been in the works for many months, will include dishes such as gyros, platters and kebabs, plus homemade sauces and dressings.
The restaurant will have "a minimal downtime of a couple of weeks," as it transitions to the new concept, Rumman said.
"We’re going to undergo a light transformation as far as the décor goes, but nothing structural," he said. "The footprint of the restaurant is going to remain the same."
