Kim Amorese, who grew up in the luncheonette business, is keeping family traditions alive. Last month, she joined forces with partner Rob Berni to open the new Hometown Cafe in the former East Islip home of Meson Ole.

Berni is in charge of cooking. On his morning menu, which runs until noon, you’ll find a “breakfast bowl”  with two eggs, bacon, ham and sausage over home fries with melted cheese ($8.95) as well as banana pancakes ($5.75) and stuffed challah French toast ($7.25).

At lunch and dinner, you can get an Angus burger ($8.95) as well as a Greek salad ($6.95) and such entrees as meat loaf ($12.95), baked Virginia ham ($12.95) and the pasta of the day ($10.95).

The cafe is closed on Monday.

Hometown Cafe is at 104 E. Main St., East Islip, 631-224-2766.
