Huntington's restaurant scene: Signs of change

Blink and the restaurant scene in Huntington changes.
The above sign, observed on Wall Street, represents just one of several restaurant-to come. In case you can't make out the lettering, here's what it says: “Stimulate the senses. Sight, sound and taste. iSushi. The Black Lantern Ultra Lounge and Sushi Den. Long Island’s first green registered eco sushi-den and ultra lounge.”
I called the phone number on the sign, 631-275-1493, and got restaurateur James Sardelli who, with his brother Jerry, are working on a place they're defining as eco-friendly. “Everything is made from green sustainable materials,” Sardelli said — bamboo floor, recycled wood, L.E.D. lighting and menus from recycled paper. The bi-level spot will have a tasting-style small plate menu of sushi specialty rolls, along with a roster of caviars, organic vodkas and Champagnes. The scene will morph from restaurant to lounge (excuse me, ultra-lounge) around 10:30 p.m. every night. Sardelli said he expects to open in late September. Watch for updates on this one.
Another sign, seen on the site that used to house J.D.'s Taproom, reads "Sapsuckers Hops & Grub" ( which joins the soon-to-come Swallow in the category of restaurants named for birds). The pub-to-be is owned by Nino Antuzzi, who also owns Osteria da Nino across the street and Red in Huntington. More on that one to follow soon.
