JT’s Cafe set to open in Blue Point

JT’s Cafe in Blue Point at 4 Montauk Hwy. is scheduled to open by next weekend, with chef Frank Connestro overseeing breakfast, lunch and dinner menus that focus on Southern-inspired comfort foods.

It’s the second restaurant from Connestro and Justin Tempelman. The first, JT’s On the Bay at 1 Curtis Rd., has been open since 2007, and remains a seafood-focused spot on the water. This year, it is set to be open from mid-May to Columbus Day. (Tempelman sold his first restaurant, JT’s Corner Cafe in Nesconset, a couple years ago.)

JT’s Cafe moves into what had been Sage Cafe, a space Tempelman and Connestro have been brightening up with whitewashed walls and floors to evoke a farmhouse since they took over the location in January.

During breakfast, JT’s Cafe will offer a selection of cereals, eggs Benedict, a Bellini bar along with cocktails like the Manmosa with wheat beer, orange juice and triple sec. Lunch and dinner will move into Southern-inspired fare, along with items like sandwiches, with the bread swapped out for Belgian waffles. On weekends after 10 p.m., an abbreviated bar menu will run until midnight.

JT’s Cafe will host its first outdoor party March 13 during the Bayport Blue Point St. Patrick’s Day parade, starting at 11 a.m., with the Blue Point Get Toasted tour, the Suffolk County Police bagpipers and live bands throughout the day.

JT’s Cafe is at 4 Montauk Hwy. and will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday.
