Finding first-class seafood houses on Long Island has been a much simpler search in the past decade at almost all price points. Here are three of the best, upscale division.
Kyma in Roslyn, a handsome, Greek-style restaurant, consistently prepares excellent finfish and shellfish. Whole finfish are sold by the pound. Recommended: whole, grilled fagri, or pink snapper; whole red snapper; whole royal dorado; grilled langoustines; grilled tiger shrimp; grilled octopus; all Greek spreads. Expensive.

Louie’s Grill & Liquors in Port Washington traces its heritage to 1905, when it began as a barge. The view of Manhasset Bay often is rivaled by the seafood. Recommended: seafood tower; lobster tacos; Maine lobster roll; steamed lobster; lobster Cantonese; miso black cod; seared grouper with citrus dressing; fish tacos with mango slaw. Moderate to expensive.

The Plaza Cafe in Southampton is an elegant but unfussy restaurant, as fresh, creative, and inviting now as it always has been. Spring comes early. Recommended: lobster and shrimp shepherd’s pie; local fluke sashimi; wild sockeye salmon crudo; ceviche; grilled local striped bass; horseradish-crusted cod; pan-seared local calamari; all desserts.
