Living Room chef's dinner @ James Beard House

James Carpenter, executive chef of the three-star restaurant The Living Room in East Hampton, will host a dinner at the James Beard House in Manhattan on Nov. 30.
Tickets for the event are $170; $130 for James Beard Foundation members. The foundation is a non-profit group. It administers the annual James Beard Awards in food and journalism, offers scholarships and showcases the work of chefs.
Carpenter will be joined by The Living Room's wine director, Kelly Matis. The dinner includes wines and emphasizes local ingredients, a hallmark of the restaurant.
Hors d'oeuvres include housemade gravlax with Halsey Farm apple compote, tartes flambees with applewood-smoked bacon and Mecox Bay Dairy cheese, and Peconic Pride oysters with pickled vegetables and caviar.
The dinner includes Peconic Bay scallops with kabocha squash puree, Swedish lamb meatnalls with sheep's milk ricotta dumplings, Long Island duck breast with leeks and lingonberry demi-glace, and grilled short ribs with Satur Farm parsnip puree.
Dinner starts at 7 p.m.
