Long Island restaurants are offering meatless Friday specials during Lent. Many observant Christians abstain from meat on Lenten Fridays before Easter, Sunday, March 27.

On March 18, Jonathan’s Ristorante in Huntington will offer a pear-and-lemon risotto with shrimp; watermelon, cucumber, mint and ricotta salata salad; sesame-crusted yellowfin tuna; sautéed tiger shrimp with baby artichokes; and spinach-and-ricotta ravioli with wild mushroom ragu.

On Good Friday, March 25, the menu will include zuppa di zucchini with goat cheese tart; oysters with cucumber mignonette; seafood risotto; and crisp red snapper with four-bean salad and spinach. Prices range from $10 to $18 for appetizers, $24 to $33 for main courses.

George Martin’s Strip Steak in Great River plans Friday menus with pistachio-crusted sliced tuna and arugula salad; kung pao fried calamari; black-pepper dusted swordfish; linguine with seafood and garlic-lemon shellfish broth; pan-seared salmon and tuna; and broiled shellfish. Appetizers run about $16 to $17, mains about $28 to $36.

At George Martin The Original in Rockville Centre, the Friday specials change weekly. Recent choices have included buttermilk-fried catfish with warm soft tortillas, white bean-and-mushroom agnolotti with broccoli di rape, and a trio of shrimp, scallops and lump crabcakes with lobster mashed potatoes. Appetizers cost about $9, mains $22 to $36.
