Sushi-dense Nassau County has just grown one spot denser: Miko Sushi & Hibachi, a cavernous restaurant with 170 seats spread between 10 hibachi tables, booths, regular tables and a sushi bar, has opened on South Oyster Bay Road in Plainview.

Miko is a sister restaurant to an equally immense spot in East Northport, Miko Japanese & Steakhouse, and shares that location's seductive lighting and modern, almost Zen ambience. Miko also has an identical encyclopedic menu, divvied up between raw fish and rolls plus hot and cold starters, hibachi dinners, teriyaki, tempura and noodles. Among the more offbeat hot apps is a poached lobster claw served in a butter-truffle sauce ($14) and a blue crab "fajita" with aioli ($12). Specialty rolls run $13 to $17; omakase sushi and sashimi for two is a reasonable $55, and hibachi dinners start at $16 (for vegetables) to $48 for a fully loaded dinner of lobster, shrimp scallops and filet mignon. Sake squirted by the chef into your open mouth can animate the hibachi-table experience.

Miko occupies the space in the Plainview Shopping Center vacated last year by Ayhan's Shish-Kebab. The restaurant was thoroughly renovated, said Steve Chen, who owns both branches of Miko.
