Mister Softee’s Long Island takeover isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. The ice cream vendor will open its third brick-and-mortar location in Miller Place next spring.

Franchisee Steven Zoly, 34, of Mount Sinai, plans to open the store on Route 25A in May, he said in a phone interview.

The popular ice cream vendor, which opened brick-and-mortar spots in East Islip and Center Moriches this year, will take over a former bank at the Aliano Shopping Center. Other businesses also coming  to the center include Jimmy John's and SoBol.

Mister Softee will have popular soft-serve flavors such as vanilla, chocolate and swirl. Patrons will also be able to add toppings such as mint chocolate chip and strawberry crunch. A baker will make custom or specialty cakes for events, Zoly said.

The store will also have a "flavor burst" machine, which will infuse ice cream to create 10 additional flavors, Zoly said.

Zoly has owned and operated two ice cream trucks in Miller Place and Mount Sinai for the past seven years. His connection with the iconic vendor stems back to his great-grandfather, Frank Fielder, who was a Mister Softee distributor in New York in 1956.

"I definitely take pride in it," he said. "I love doing it, it’s something for my kids to carry on too."

Zoly and his brother, Andrew Zoly, have big plans with Mister Softee. They hope to open up to 20 stores across New York State, they said.

“We want to make sure that the community is happy and give them a local spot that they can congregate around,” Andrew Zoly said. "This [store] is one that we’re confident is going to turn into many.”

Mister Softee, 691 Route 25A, Miller Place. Starting in May: Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily.
