There’s a new place to get chocolate chip cookies in Hicksville, from the brand associated with chocolate chips. It’s the Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip, a co-branding with Red Mango, the frozen yogurt company.
Walk in and you’ll smell cookies baking, as trays are in the oven all day. If you time it right, your cookies will be warm, the chocolate still gooey. Ensure that’s the case by calling 20 minutes ahead of a visit to order a tray of eight hot cookies to go. Regular sized chocolate chip cookies are $1.89 a piece and a tray is $9.45.
The cafe is one of three locations on Long Island — the others are in Bay Shore and Hewlett.
Under the Texas-based Crest Foods Inc. umbrella, Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip debuted more than a decade ago and falls among fast-growing franchises, with more than 100 locations from Canada to Qatar and all around the United States — some as stand-alones, others in partnership with Häagen-Dazs.
Amyn Kajani, the manager, said his family opened Red Mango nine months ago and introduced the cafe recently to please groups of children who come in, some wanting yogurt, others clamoring for ice cream or cookies. The two-in-one location makes it easier on parents and appeals to year-round cravings.
The cafe offers more than the classic cookie. Brownies are a close second, followed by peanut butter cookies and the specialty of the day.
Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip and Red Mango is located at 1040 S. Broadway in Hicksville, 516-622-1582.
