New Irish bar and restaurant, Connolly Station, opens in Bay Shore
If you’re looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) with an Irish accent, there are a whole slew of them at Connolly Station, which opened about a month ago in the freestanding building that used to be Declan Quinn’s.
“Our servers are all Irish,” said new owner John Walsh, “and 75 percent of the bar staff is Irish too.”
Walsh and Catherine Furlong also own Biddy Spratts Irish pub in West Islip. For Connolly Station, the two teamed up with Brian McGowan, a third partner, and have completely renovated the dining room and bar.
Among the 14 beers on tap are Guinness stout, Smithwick’s ale and Harp lager. In the kitchen, chef Fionnbarr Teague (County Down) cooks Irish specialties (shepherd’s pie, Irish stew, corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips), pub standards (burgers, wings, spinach salad, quesadillas) and a few curveballs such as Reuben fritters and Irish nachos (fries topped with Cheddar, mozzarella, ranch dressing, scallions and bacon).
Connolly Station is at 227 Fourth Ave., Bay Shore, 631-647-8766.
