Three young Suffolk chefs are planning to create the restaurant of their dreams — but only for one night, Tuesday, July 17. The short-lived venue, Lost and Found, will be located at Toast, the Port Jefferson café that is closed on weeknight evenings.
The chefs in question are Dan Shannon and Kyle Fiasconaro, who work at Eric Lomando’s restaurants Orto in Miller Place and Kitchen A Bistro in St. James, and Doug Weiler, who characterized himself as “an ex-Lomandian.” Weiler explained that the name, Lost and Found, refers to the nearly lost tradition of restaurants cooking the wares of local farmers and producers with whom they have relationships.
Chief among this dinner’s producers will be Hamlet Organic Garden in Brookhaven — the source for nearly all of the meal’s vegetables. Also featured will be yogurt from Goodale Farms in Aquebogue, meat from Miloski's Poultry Farm in Calverton, oysters from Naked Cowboy in Blue Point, beer from Port Jeff Brewing Co. and wines from Peconic-based vintner Anthony Nappa.
The cost of the five-course dinner is $45, plus $15 for beer and wine. There will be two seatings, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. To make reservations call 631-478-8414 or email lostandfoundrestaurant@gmail.com. Click here for more information.
Toast is at 242 E. Main St., Port Jefferson.
