Red Smoke Southern Style BBQ
(THIS RESTAURANT HAS CLOSED.)
When the hankering for something slow-smoked hits, the pitmasters at Red Smoke stand at the ready.
To start, you can order up wings or nachos, chili or a quesadilla. You can even indulge in Red's "famous homemade hush puppies." If a sandwich is what you crave, think of brisket piled onto rye bread grilled with Swiss cheese and cole slaw to make a new kind of Ruben. The "Sloppy" sandwich is a combo of smoked pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken smothered in sauce and served on a club roll.
For some people, though, barbecue is just about the big stuff - baby back ribs, chicken or a platter of pulled pork, chicken or brisket. There are all sorts of combinations available, which you can order with sides like baked beans, creamed spinach, macaroni and cheese and rice and beans.
This is an informal spot, so wear jeans and be prepared to sit at picnic-style tables. Of course, since the place does a huge takeout business, you can bring it all home and enjoy it on your finest china. When you're eating 'cue, anything goes.
