The Hamptons International Film Festival runs Oct. 6-10, screening more than 100 features, shorts and documentaries from around the world. Drop by one of the restaurants listed here to satisfy the appetite you will surely work up while sitting for long hours in the dark.

All are a short walk from festival venues and will be packed with industry types — and possibly celebrities including Emma Stone, Ewan McGregor and Annette Bening, all of whom have films on the schedule and are rumored to be attending.


The natural foods café at Provisions is sure to be a magnet for Hollywood fitness fanatics, offering smoothies and green juices as well as omelets, wraps, veggie burgers, tempeh Reubens and more. Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.

In the same building, local hangout The Corner Bar serves everything Provisions doesn’t: mac and cheese bites, chicken wings, cheeseburgers, fish and chips, along with a full bar. Monday to Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m., Sunday noon to 1 a.m.

If you are in the mood for upscale Italian, stop in at Dopo La Spiagga (formerly Tutto al Giorno), where the house-made ravioli are stuffed with local shiitake mushrooms, and the entrees include roasted octopus with chickpeas and greens. Open Monday, Thursday, Friday 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 11 p.m.

Babette’s features “clean food.” For vegetarians, there is organic BBQ tofu. Pescatarians can order the local wild-caught striped bass. Carnivores can choose the grass-fed burger. For diners who like a drink with their clean lunch or dinner, there is a full bar offering herb-infused cocktails. Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Citta Nuova is a stylish trattoria with sharp black-and-white décor, serving outstanding renditions of Italian classics like chicken Milanese and eggplant Parmesan. Strip steak is grilled Tuscan-style and served over arugula. Pasta choices include house-made fettuccine with wild boar sausage. A separate pizza menu is divided into Rosse and Bianche choices. Open seven days a week, 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Walk down a narrow alleyway off Main Street just steps from the movie theater, and you will find East Hampton’s first and best gastropub, Rowdy Hall. The “classics” section of the menu, featuring moules frites, fish and chips, and meatloaf with mashed potatoes, demonstrates the restaurant’s devotion to comfort food whether it comes from France, England or the United States. Open seven days a week, noon to 3:30 p.m., then 5 to 10 p.m.

Silver’s is an elegant little restaurant open only for lunch. It’s the place to indulge in luxurious specialties like lobster bisque, borscht, BLT, roast duck leg confit and chocolate pot de crème. There is a full wine list. Champagne and caviar are available upon request. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Wednesdays.

Little Red is the more casual offshoot of Southampton standby RedBar. Salads (crispy rock shrimp with bibb lettuce) and sandwiches (turkey and avocado BLT) dominate at lunch, while there’s a large selection of entrees (seared scallops, veal Milanese, steak frites) at dinner. An “in-between” menu served from 3 to 5 p.m. includes a grilled flatbread pizza and a butcher’s board with sopressata and smoked duck breast. Open seven days a week for dinner from 5:30 p.m., lunch Thursday to Monday 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., in-between menu Thursday to Sunday 3 to 5 p.m.

Sant Ambroeus is fashionable Italian café serving coffee, gelato, panini and heartier fare in an elegant dining room and on a vine-covered patio. If you have to ask the price ($49), you probably can’t afford the breaded veal chop. But you can still breathe the same espresso-scented air as the movie moguls while enjoying a $14 sandwich of ham and Swiss cheese with artichokes and peppers. Open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
