Shinnecock Lobster Factory opens in Southampton
It’s Indian summer in Southampton, and this year it comes with a generous serving of lobster.
Marco Barrilla of Insatiable EATS Catering and Manna Restaurant in Water Mill has partnered with tribe member Lance Gumbs of the Indian Outpost on a new seafood spot at the Shinnecock Indian Reservation on Montauk Highway.
The focus at the Shinnecock Lobster Factory is on local seafood and produce.
The small wooden shack with takeout windows and picnic tables features six specialty lobster rolls ($19.95) served on toasted brioche buns, including classic, BLT, Cajun and diablo. There are also 1 1⁄2 to 2-pound lobster dinners served with baked potatoes and slaw or corn (market price).
Rounding out the menu are crabcakes, salmon and tuna burgers (all $16).
Everything on the menu can be ordered to go. An outdoor deck provides seating and will soon be enclosed for year-round dining.
Look for winter specialties including potpies and pasta.
Open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
