Fish is de rigueur for Italian Christmas Eve as families partake of la vigilia, the traditional piscatory feast that boasts seven or 12 seafood courses, depending on whether the family in question is honoring the number of sacraments or Apostles.

Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas in Garden City started celebrating Christmas Eve two weeks early, serving a Feast of the Seven Fishes every night through Dec. 24.

The menu is $45 a person, $65 with wine pairings for each course: Blue Point oysters with Prosecco mignonette (Prosecco, Bisol Jeio), squid-ink spaghetti with bay scallops (Gavi, San Matteo), mussels in a rosemary-cream sauce (Pinot Grigio, Tramin), seared sea bream with salsa salmoriglio (lemon juice, olive oil, oregano and parsley) sauce (Ribolla Gialla, Sut), cod fritters with lemon thyme aioli (Est! Est!! Est!!!, Falesco) grilled salmon with cauliflower puree and fig-mustard glaze (Teroldego, Lechthaler), cacciucco (seafood stew) Livornese (Chianti Classico, Melini Terrarossa).

All the dishes are also available a la carte in addition to Spuntino’s regular menu. Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas is at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza, 1002 Old Country Rd., Garden City; 516-228-5400, spuntinowinebar.com/westbury
