The best BLTs on Long Island
The BLT is a wild party in the mouth: It's hot. It's cool. It's salty. It's sweet. It's got crunch. Even creaminess.
Hooking up with a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich isn't hard. They're everywhere, on menus plain and fancy. You'd think, though, that with only five basic ingredients (bacon, lettuce, tomato, toast and mayo), satisfaction would be within easy grasp. Not so.
A search for Long Island's best BLTs also provided an object lesson in all that can go wrong. But there were a few restaurants that got it very right.
