The Orient, Bethpage: Reopening postponed

My next dim sum fix at The Orient in Bethpage won’t happen for at least another month. Neither will yours. I learned that much after a phone conversation with owner Tommy Tan.

The place was supposed to reopen May 2 after renovations. But anyone who has ever had work done by a contractor knows that things don't always go according to a contractor's timetable. My rule of thumb is to take the estimated time for a job’s completion and just about double it. 

When the spiffed-up place reopens, the menu will be pretty much the same, with prices adjusted upward only slightly. Even so, Tan assured, the tab for a satisfying dinner should come in at $25 a person or less.
