Think whitewashed beach chic in a stylish space with lots of light and French farmhouse accents. Now you have an idea of the newly opened side room at Tula Kitchen in Bay Shore, serving weekday breakfast and lunch.

The side room décor is a departure from the candlelit dining room at the vegetarian-friendly main restaurant. Chef owner Jackie Sharlup does not forgo all meat, however, with an occasional appearance of chicken or fish. The dinner hours for this dining room remain 4 to 9 p.m. weekdays, and to 10 p.m. on weekends.

The offerings are separate in the new side room, with a breakfast menu of flapjacks, eggs and Nutella pancakes and a lunch menu with sandwiches and greens such as the Cobb salad with romaine, egg, blue cheese, tomatoes and radishes. Prices run from $7 to $14.

Late risers, take note: breakfast is served all day.

Tula Kitchen is located at 41 E. Main St., Bay Shore, 631-539-7183, tulakitchen.com.
