A Lynbrook man was arrested Wednesday night after he robbed a Valley Stream gas station at gunpoint, taking cash and a cellphone, Nassau County police said.

Andrew Alonge, 25, of Wood Street, is charged with second-degree robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said Alonge entered the Valero station at 192 E. Sunrise Hwy. just before 8 p.m. Armed with a black handgun, he demanded money from two clerks, both men, police said.

He then fled east on Sunrise Highway with an unspecified amount of cash and a cellphone, police said.

A detective for the Lynbrook Police Department responded to the scene, found Alonge at Scranton Avenue and High Street, and arrested him, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The proceeds from the robbery and the black handgun were recovered, police said.
