East Norwich bank vault hit by 2 armed robbers, cops say
Two armed robbers ordered employees of an East Norwich bank to open the vault, then “zip tied” the workers before taking off with cash Friday, Nassau police said.
The suspects, their faces covered by masks, had their handguns out when they entered the Chase on Northern Boulevard about 8:30 a.m. and ordered the three employees to get on the floor, police said.
One robber jumped over the counter area and demanded access into the vault, police said, while his accomplice forced three customers into the kitchen area.
After grabbing money from the vault, the robbers also ordered the employees into the kitchen area and tied up their hands before taking off in an unknown direction, police said.
No injuries were reported, police said.
Police gave only the height of the suspects in releasing their descriptions. One was 6-foot-2 inches tall to 6-foot-4, and the other one was 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10, police said.
