A Holbrook man was arrested after he arranged on Facebook to sell a stolen dirt bike back to the victim, police said Monday.

The victim, a Smithtown man, reported his 2011 Kawasaki stolen from his residence Aug. 29 and Fourth Squad detectives investigated the theft, Suffolk County police said.

The victim told detectives that the same dirt bike was being offered for sale on Facebook by Thomas Geiger, 18, of Holbrook, police said.

Police said the victim then agreed to meet with Geiger near Geiger’s Grundy Avenue home “while detectives were in the area” at about 1 p.m. on Monday.

Geiger was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and making an apparently sworn false statement, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
