Nassau County police have arrested and charged two Pennsylvania residents in connection with the death of a Tampa man who officers found shot near a Bethpage hotel one month ago Friday.

Sgroilin Santana, 22, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania and Jaslynn Nevaeh Garcia, 19, of Shillington, Pennsylvania face murder and other charges related to the death of Jorge Vazquez, 35, of Tampa, Florida, Nassau police announced Friday.

Around 9:41 p.m. on April 2, Nassau police officers responded to a report of a shooting near the Extended Stay America hotel on South Oyster Bay Road, where they found Vazquez and determined he had been shot, Newsday previously reported. The Florida man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through a coordinated effort with the Nassau Homicide Squad and police agencies in Pennsylvania, both Santana and Garcia were arrested and charged with second-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, Nassau police said. Both Pennsylvania residents are being detained as fugitives from justice in their home state pending extradition to New York.
