Homeless man burglarized churches in Medford, Farmingville, police say

One of two homeless men who were found trespassing on church property in Medford on Friday was charged with four church burglaries after the duo ran from police into nearby woods, authorities said.
William Stepnowski, 38, and Louis Parisi, 25, were spotted at 10 a.m. in a building that is part of the Calvary Baptist Church on Horseblock Road, but when Sixth Precinct officers arrived, the men ran off, Suffolk police said.
They were found at the intersection of Devon Avenue and Knickerbocker Road in Medford, police said.
Stepnowski was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, possession of burglar’s tools and four counts of third-degree burglary in connection with break-ins at Calvary Baptist Church on Sept. 9, St. Michael’s Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Farmingville on Sept. 1., Helping Hands Outreach Ministries in Medford on Aug. 29, and Medford Assembly of God on Aug. 28.
Parisi was charged with third-degree criminal trespass.
Both are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
