Homeless man charged in Rockville Centre bank robbery, cops say
A homeless man has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Rockville Centre last week, Nassau County police said.
Patrick G. Smith, 55, is charged with third-degree robbery, police said in a news release. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
Police said Smith entered a Capital One Bank on Friday and demanded money from a teller after threatening to use a gun. No firearm was seen, police said.
Smith fled on foot, going east into the rear parking lot with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
Six employees and three customers were in the bank during the robbery, police said.
