A Wyandanch man who in October stabbed a teenager in a dispute on a basketball court faces assault and weapons charges, Nassau County police said Thursday.

Seventh Squad detectives said Nahmiek Zeigler, 18, of South 31st Street, was arrested Thursday on charges of second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon for stabbing a 17-year-old on Oct. 30 at a court in East Massapequa.

Zeigler is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Detectives said the victim was playing at Field of Dreams Park, 5660 Old Sunrise Hwy., about 2 p.m. when he got into an argument with another player.

The other player stabbed the victim in his upper left arm with a small knife, police said. The victim retaliated with a punch and was able to run home to call police.

Police responded and took the victim to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
