Two Suffolk County police officers investigating the scene of a break-in Monday night in Huntington Station arrested a 55-year-old man after hearing glass breaking at a storefront nearby — and finding the suspect inside the store, police said.

Tyrone Stevens, of East 11th Street, Huntington Station, was arrested inside Candy Town Nail Salon on New York Avenue at 11:45 p.m., police said. He was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and possession of burglar’s tools.

He was held overnight for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said the two Second Precinct officers, Jeffrey Damo and Vincent Dilluvio, saw broken glass outside Hilda’s Hair Salon, at 1899 New York Ave., just before 11:40 p.m. -- and stopped to investigate.

While investigating that scene, police said, the officers “heard glass breaking” at the Candy Town salon at 1911 New York Ave. and found Stevens inside that building, making the arrest.
