Postal worker Jenry Buestan Gutama, of Moriches, indicted for sexual abuse of 2 teen girls

A U.S. Postal Service worker was indicted on charges on Wednesday of sexually assaulting two 15-year-old girls, one allegedly in an agency vehicle.

Jenry Buestan Gutama, 23, of Moriches, was arraigned on charges of first- and third-degree rape; first-degree sexual abuse; two counts of sexual misconduct; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child before acting State Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis in Riverhead, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said in a news release on Wednesday.

On May 11, Buestan Gutama was working, driving a Postal Service truck, when he allegedly drove past a 15-year-old girl he knew who was walking from school, according to the investigation.

Buestan Gutama offered her a ride to get food and she obliged.

But instead of taking her to get food, Buestan Gutama allegedly drove to a cul-de-sac, parked and prevented her from leaving the vehicle.

Buestan Gutama allegedly grabbed the girl's wrists, pulled her to the back of the truck and sexually assaulted her, the statement said.

Newsday previously reported that East Hampton police said the incident took place in one of the agency’s vehicles in East Hampton.

The teen then walked back to her school and reported the assault to school officials, authorities said.

On May 15, the East Hampton Town Police Department arrested Buestan Gutama.

Following media coverage of his arrest, a now-19-year-old family friend of Buestan Gutama's contacted police, reporting that when she was 15, Buestan Gutama allegedly sexually assaulted her in his car after parking near her home.

On Wednesday, Wilutis ordered Buestan Gutama held on $150,000 cash, $450,000 bond or $1,500,000 partially secured bond.

Chase Brown, Buestan Gutama’s attorney, said in a statement: "My client has entered a plea of not guilty, because he is not guilty. He adamantly denies these allegations and looks forward to his day in court where we expect he will be completely exonerated."

He is due back in court on July 17 and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count.
