Pierino Liberta, of St. James, killed crossing street in East Northport, police say

Suffolk County detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian Monday night in East Northport.
Around 10:50 p.m., Pierino Liberta was crossing Larkfield Road near Fourth Avenue on foot from west to east when he was struck by a northbound 2020 Subaru Outback, police said.
Liberta, 81, of St. James, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office, police said.
The 19-year-old driver of the Subaru was not injured. The Subaru was impounded for a safety check.
