On Monday, Southampton Village Mayor Jesse Warren and the state Department of Environmental Conservation unveiled an experimental algae treatment system in Southampton's Lake Agawam. The system uses ultrasonic waves to disrupt the buoyancy of the algae, making it impossible for it to float to the top and get nutrients from the sun.
