Man killed crossing Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead, police say

A man was killed Wednesday morning crossing Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead after he was hit by a pickup truck, Nassau police said.
Police said the 64-year-old man was crossing the road near South Franklin Street at 8 a.m. when a 2011 Toyota Tundra hit him as the driver was turning left on Franklin.
The driver remained at the scene, and the pedestrian was declared dead by authorities. The victim was not identified.
