A report of smoke in the cockpit of a JetBlue flight landing at Kennedy Airport forced the plane's captain to declare an emergency this morning, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Flight 802 from Santo Domingo landed at 9:48 a.m. and safely rolled to the gate, an FAA spokesman said.

A JetBlue Airlines spokeswoman said an odor of smoke in the cockpit prompted the emergency declaration "out of an abundance of caution."

JetBlue is investigating.

There was 146 passengers and five crews on the flight.
