Centenarian: Tilia Fantasia Martel of Glen Cove
TILIA FANTASIA MARTEL was born June 23, 1906. She immigrated to the United States in 1928, living at different time in Somerville, Mass., Brooklyn, South Ozone Park and Glen Head. She married Anthony Martel in 1937 and was married for 60 years before being widowed in 1997. She had two children, Salvatore (now deceased) and Gino. Tilia enjoyed sewing her own clothes, knitting and planting vegetables. She lives at Glengariff Healthcare Center in Glen Cove where she enjoys arts and crafts and playing bingo. She celebrated her birthday there with her family including her daughter-in-law, Emilia, three granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
