One newly arrived immigrant from Ireland spotted a lovely young woman in a polka dot dress at a dance and was smitten, though it would be two years before they were actually introduced. One young woman reluctantly let a co-worker set her up with her son on a blind date. One man was so awestruck by the impending lunar landing in 1969 that he proposed.

LI Life's weekly Love Story feature. To encourage more stories and to make them easier to submit for possible publication, Newsday has created an online form. Access it at newsday.com/lilovestory

If you're a newlywed or tied the knot long ago, we want to know all about it. Many couples featured in Newsday have been married 40, 60, 70 years or longer, but that's not a requirement for publication. Wedded bliss has to have a beginning, so we welcome you to send the details of your Love Story -- no matter how many years ago it began.

Here are a few things you need to know before you contact us for our Love Story feature:

--You and your spouse will be contacted and you both must agree to be featured, so that means no surprise story for a birthday or anniversary gift.

-- You do not have to be married with children, but you must be legally wed. Many couples who submit their Love Story are parents, but Newsday is just as happy to feature childless couples.

-- We want to match faces to the story, so send us pictures from your wedding day or when you were dating, along with a more recent photo.

-- Newsday's primary coverage area focuses on Nassau and Suffolk, but our readership extends into Queens. So if you're within those borders -- or have moved out of New York State, but only in the past three years -- you are eligible for publication.
