Sunita Manjrekar, of Hicksville, was one of five people honored last month at the 13th annual Leaders in Education Awards Dinner, coordinated by St. John’s University’s School of Education, for work with those in need in Nassau County. Manjrekar is deputy commissioner for public assistance and employment services at the Nassau County Department of Social Services, which she joined in 2010. She has also worked as the county’s director of employment and day care programs. In addition, she is vice president of the Hicksville school district’s Board of Education and a partner in the Long Island-based nonprofit Children’s Hope India.
