Peter W. StephensProfessor

Peter W. Stephens of Stony Brook has been named a fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science based on his "distinguished contributions" in developing and promoting high-resolution powder X-ray diffraction as a technique in solid-state physics and chemistry. Stephens is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University, which he joined in 1980 as an assistant professor. He also has served twice as chair of the executive committee of the National Synchrotron Light Source Users Organization.
