The Long Island Rail Road will be among the commuter services operating on a special schedule Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said the LIRR will operate a holiday schedule, with 37 additional trains added across several branches.

The additional trains are indicated in current timetables, the LIRR said. Also, off-peak fares will apply all day Monday.

The Metro-North Railroad also will adjust for the holiday, applying a Saturday schedule and adding 36 additional trains. Off-peak fares also apply the entire day.

New York City's subways and buses and the Staten Island Railway plan regular weekday schedules with a few exceptions, the MTA said.

The MTA said customers could expect longer wait times for some subway lines and some bus routes.

Customers can call 511, the New York State Travel Information Line (say: Long Island Rail Road) for more information, or visit mta.info/lirr/. Hearing-impaired customers can use their preferred relay service provider for the free 711 relay to reach LIRR at 511.
