A 25-year-old New Cassel man is under arrest and an accomplice is being sought after the two robbed a Chinese food deliveryman Monday evening, police said.

The robbery occurred on Sherman Street in New Cassel at about 9:30 p.m., Nassau County police said in a Tuesday news release.

The delivery man, identified only as a 38-year-old working for New China Garden on Old Country Road in Westbury, was not injured in the incident.

Scott Imbert of 27 Bramble Lane was arrested shortly after the robbery, police said. His accomplice, identified only as a man, has not been arrested and is being sought, police said.

Imbert and his accomplice ordered food from New China Garden and asked it be delivered to an address on Sherman Street, police said. When the delivery man arrived and called to confirm the order, police said he was jumped by Imbert and the accomplice -- the two robbers pushing the delivery man to the ground and, simulating a handgun, demanding cash and other items.

The men stole cash, credit cards and the food, then fled the scene, police said.

Police said Imbert was arrested later on First Avenue.

Neither the proceeds nor the gun was recovered.

Imbert was charged with three counts of second-degree robbery, as well as with second-degree criminal use of a firearm. He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
