1 charged, 1 sought in purse snatching

A Hicksville teen was arrested and his accomplice is being sought after police said the two stole a pocketbook Monday from a 16-year-old girl walking along a street in Hicksville.

The girl was not injured.

Nassau County police said the theft occurred about 8:45 p.m. on Wyckoff Street.

Jeff Etienne, 17, of 190 W. Nicholai St., was charged with second-degree robbery and resisting arrest. He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police are still searching for an accomplice.

Police said Etienne was arrested after "a brief struggle" with officers who followed him through a yard.
