The driver of a Toyota Sienna rammed into a hardware store in a Hewlett shopping center Sunday afternoon, leaving an employee with minor injuries, police and a store spokesman said.

Nassau County police said there was an emergency call for a vehicle into a building at around 5 p.m. at the Ace Hardware at 1346 Peninsula Blvd. A police spokesman had no further information.

A spokesman at the Ace store said the Toyota van hit the glass to the right of the front door, and one store employee was injured with minor bruising.

The employee was treated at a nearby hospital and released, the store spokesman said.

The spokesman had no other information but did say the hardware store was open Monday for business as usual.
