Nassau County police are looking for a man suspected of shooting another man in Roosevelt on Friday night.

First Precinct officers heard gunshots around 10 p.m. near Anna Avenue and William Street, police said. When officers got to the front yard of a home on William Street, they found a 28-year-old man who had been shot in the back.

Witnesses say a man fired three to four shots and left in a dark-colored vehicle heading north on Anna Avenue, police said. A handgun was later found in the back yard of another home on William Street.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was admitted for a spinal injury and is listed in stable condition, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
