1 in custody after fight prompts search
Parkgoers who saw two men fighting in Hempstead State Lake Park Wednesday morning called 911, sparking an intensive search that ended when state park police took one man into custody.
The other man was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Police said that when witnesses saw the fight and reported it, the men ran off, sparking the search.
Nassau County police said the search included a helicopter equipped with infrared cameras and officers on foot.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the fight.
