Lottery: Winning $1M Mega Millions ticket sold at N. Valley Stream store

Missed it by that much.
A North Valley Stream convenience store sold a $1 million second-place winning ticket in Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing, the New York Lottery said.
The ticket, purchased at Linden News & Convenience Inc. at 238-12 Linden Blvd., matched all five numbers (3, 45, 49, 61, 69) but didn't hit the Mega Ball, 9, to get the estimated $667 million grand prize.
"It's very exciting," said Mohamed Azam, the owner of the store. "I am very happy to see that we sold the ticket. Maybe it will bring in new business."
A spokeswoman for the State Gaming Commission, which operates the New York Lottery, said late Wednesday morning no one has come forward to claim the prize.
To do so, the individual will need the original ticket and a signed claim form that can be returned to a Lottery customer service center. Long Island has two customer service centers — on South Service Road in Plainview and at Jake's 58 Casino on Express Drive North in Islandia.
The ticket was among eight second-place winners nationwide.
The next drawing is 11 p.m. Friday, at a more impressive $868 million. That would be the second-largest lottery prize in U.S. history.
