Two Long Beach men robbed a woman of cash by knifepoint Tuesday in Island Park before being tracked down by police and a canine officer from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Nassau County's Fourth Squad said.

The victim, 21, was walking home at about 11:55 p.m. on Long Beach Road near Arlington Walk when two men approached her, police said.

The two pulled knives, took her pocketbook, which had an unspecified amount of cash, and left, police said.

A short time later, Nassau County police and the MTA canine officer were able to "to apprehend and arrest both subjects," according to a news release.

Police said all proceeds were recovered and no one was injured.

Rakim Cole, 20, of 9 Birch Ct., and Kaic Santos, 18, of 124 Coolidge Ave., each are charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Santos also is charged with resisting arrest.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
