2 charged in cellphone theft
Two women have been charged in the theft of a cellphone Monday from a shopper at Roosevelt Field mall after the phone's carrier pinpointed the stolen device's location, Nassau County police said.
When the shopper, 22, noticed her phone missing Monday, she called it herself, unsuccessfully, in hopes of finding it, police said. She then turned to Verizon, which, police said, set up an application to find the phone. The application located the phone at 1320 Tribune Ave., Elmont, the home of Nisa White, 23, police said.
Police said that on Monday Kasha Jackson, 22, of Brooklyn, had taken the phone, which was later found in the possession of White, her friend.
Jackson was charged with grand larceny and is due Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead. White is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and is to be arraigned Dec. 27 in First District Court in Hempstead.
